Sandy Ann Collier

Sandy Ann Collier, 52, of Sneads quietly passes away July 28, 2017 at Big Bend Hospice in Tallahassee after a brief Couragious battle with cancer.

A native of Jackson County, Sandy Ann had resided here her entire life, where she was employed with the State of Florida at the State Hospital for 31 years.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Deanne Walters and mother-in-law Carol Collier.

Survivors include her husband, Danny; daughters; Violet, Crystal and son, Andrew all of Sneads.  Her father, William Walters of Sneads; Father-in-law, Doug Collier; brothers, Lee Walters and wife, Susie of Adell, GA., Jamie Walters of Sneads; sisters, Candy Hatcher and husband, Harrold from Gulf Breeze, FL., Loralie Shores and husband, Claude of Alford FL., Danny’s sisters, and brothers-in-law, Chris & Jason Dodson of Quincy,  Cheryl & James Conte of Tallahassee; aunt Renalta & husband, Richard Hall resides in England.

Funeral Services will be 2 P.M., Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at Cypress Grove Assembly of God with Rev. Jonathan Fussell Officiating. Buriel will follow in the church cemetery. Price Charles Snellgrove

Price Charles Snellgrove, who was born on December 12, 1938 in Alford Florida, passed away on July 29, 2017 in Jackson Hospital. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Annette Byrd, his mother, Callie Snellgrove; his grandparents, Lishie and Charles Bradley who raised him.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Paula Snellgrove of Alford; four sons, Chuck Snellgrove and his wife, Rena of Princeton, Wisconsin,  William “Billy” Snellgrove of Big Springs Texas,  Eugene Snellgrove of Odessa, TX and Adam Sapp and his wife, Jules of Westcliffe, Colorado; two daughters, Sue Ann Pennington of Wilmington North Carolina and Jennifer Moyer and husband, Jon of Alford; 18 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Charlie attended Alford Elementary and Cottondale High School. He joined the U S Air Force in 1957. His basic training was at Lackland AFB, Texas and then on to Amarillo AFB where he worked on the B-27.  He was then stationed at Walker AFB at Roswell, New Mexico where he transferred career fields to become an ejection seat mechanic.  He then transferred to Homestead AFB where he became Shop Chief where he still worked with the Aircraft Repair Shop because of his experience on the B-52’s. Over the years, he was stationed at Udom, Thailand, Charleston, South Carolina, Alamogordo, New Mexico and Okinawa, Japan where he was promoted to Master Sergeant.  After serving in the Philippines, he was sent to Moody ARB in Georgia where he retired with 20 years and seven days of Service.  

After retiring from the U S Air Force, he attended Chipola Junior College, where he received a degree in Auto Mechanics and an AA degree. He was employed at various places to include Bob Pforte Motors, Uni-Mac Industries and the city of Alford.

He married his wife Paula in 1978, after raising their children and completing their careers, he served an 18-month mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Northern Missouri. He also served a six-year mission call in the Atlanta, Georgia Temple.

Charlie loved to travel, fish, garden and spend time with his grandchildren, working on family history and serving others. 

The family request in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, Salvation Army or LDS Family History Library would be appreciated.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Monday, July 31, 2017 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 3141 College Street in Marianna, Florida with Petey Sims and Bishop Mark Sims Conducting.  The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 at the church. Dawn Martin, 44, of Marianna passed away on July 25, 2017 at Jackson Hospital surrounded by family.

Dawn was born in Troy, New York on June 5, 1973 to Charles and Fran Cobart. She later moved to Jackson County, Florida.

Dawn was preceded in death by her daughter, Angel and father Charles.

She is survived by her loving husband of 28 years, Joey Martin of Marianna; two sons, Mikey and AJ; mother, Francis Cobart of Alabama; sister, Jennifer Sparks of Alabama; four brothers, Scott Cobart, Charlie Cobart (Cheryl), Joseph Cobart and Matthew Cobart  all of Marianna.

Anyone who knew Dawn was greeted with an open mind and open arms. We are truly lucky to have known Dawn. She was one of a kind and our rock. We love you, Dawn.

Memorialization will be by cremation with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel in charge of arrangements.

Dianne Tyus Berry

Dianne Tyus Berry, 60, of Marianna, died Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center.

Dianne was born May 5, 1957 in Chattahoochee, FL. to Troy and Vergelina Tyus. She spent many of her younger years playing softball where she was known to be a excellent player. As a young adult, she made time to coach young teams and share with them the skills and strategies she had learned over the years. She loved sports and loved other people.  Dianne worked for many years as a Lieutenant for the Jackson County Sheriffs Office as a 911 Communications Director where she was highly respected for her effective and direct instructions to her officers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Spurgeon “Spud” Berry; parents, Troy and Vergelina Tyus; brother, Troy Lee ”Chuck” Tyus, Jr.

Dianne is survived by her daughter, Leigh Berry Porter and husband, Matt of Sneads, Stephanie DeAnne Berry of Marianna; brother, Ted Tyus and wife, Charlotte of Marianna; sister, Saundra Applewhite of Cypress; grandchild, Alli-Anne Grace Cheverez and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be 5 p.m. Sunday, August 6, 2017 at United Believers Worship Center in Grand Ridge with Revs. Kelvin Johnson and Juno Douglas officiating James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to funeral services at the church.

Roy Frank Hatcher

Roy Frank Hatcher, 91, of Grand Ridge went home to be with his Lord, Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at his residence in Grand Ridge.

Mr. Hatcher lived his entire life in Jackson County.  He was a retired farmer and enjoyed fishing, hunting, working in his garden and sharing with family and friends.  He was an active member of Bascom Baptist Church most of his life, serving as a Sunday School Teacher and Deacon.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Joyce Carilon Holbert; parents, Johnny and Martha Ham Hatcher, six brothers and sisters and the mother of his children, Edna Watford Hatcher.

Survivors include his wife, Eloise Paulk Womack Hatcher; two sons, Curtis and wife, Jenny, Hilton and wife, Becky; a son-in-law, Ivan Holbert all of Bascom; one step-daughter, Joyce Riley and husband, David Edenfield; one step-son, Larry Womack; nine grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren, three step grandchildren and three step great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Bascom Baptist Church with Revs. Matt Basford and Greg Roberts officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to funeral services at Bascom Baptist Church.

Wandis C. Scott, 82, of Alford died Thursday, August 10, 2017 at her residence.

Wandis was born in Alford, Fl on June 20, 1935 to the late Ivey and Lena Vickery Daniels. She spent many years working on the family farm with her husband and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Marianna.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Farrell Scott.

Survivors include two sons, John Carlton Scott and wife, Vicki, William Sim Scott and wife, Donna, all of Marianna; one daughter, Sandra Watson and husband, Craig of Blountstown; four brothers, Nolan Daniels of Marianna, Norris Daniels of Port St. Joe, Virgil Daniels of Blountstown and Terry Daniels of Marianna; seven grandchildren and spouses, nine great grandchildren and one to be born soon.

Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Friday, August 11, 2017 at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel with Rev. Ellis Vickery officiating. Interment will follow in Alford City Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.

Shirley Mae Comerford

Shirley Mae Comerford, 79, of Sneads passed away Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at the Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan.

A native of Dothan, Al, Mrs. Comerford was a loving and supportive Military wife who traveled about the United States with her family as her husband served in the United States Air Force. In 1975 she came to Sneads where she resided until her death. In addition to raising three children she had a long career with the Florida Department of Corrections, retiring in 2001. She was well known for her loving and caring heart and unwavering faith. She was a member of Sneads Assembly of God.

She was preceded in death by her Husband John R. (Bob) Comerford, Mother Willie Mae Jones, Step-Father Luther (Papa) Jones, Father Namon Tice, Brother Ralph Tice and Sister Martha Peacock.

Survivors include a Brother Richard Tice (Jeanette); one Daughter Kathy Harrell (John); two Sons Robert M. Comerford (Kathy) and Richard D. Comerford (Melissa); seven Grandchildren; Kimberly Stinson (Ben), Benjamin Harrell, Kodey Comerford, Brandon Comerford, Stella Cotton (Michael), Logan Wainwright and Hunter Wainwright and four Great-Grandchildren Jacob, Emma, Trey, CC and one on the way. She is also survived by her best friend Doris Spurlock of Marianna.

Funeral services will be Friday, August 18, 2017 at 11 am CST at Sneads Assembly of God with the Reverends Juno Douglas and Charles Jackson officiating. Interment will follow at the Comerford-Pelt Cemetery in Cypress with James & Sikes Funeral Home of Sneads directing..  Family will receive friends from 10 am CST Friday, August 18, 2017 until time of the service at Sneads Assembly of God.   

In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation be made to the Sneads Assembly of God Missions Program in Mrs. Comerford’s name.   The family would also like to express our sincere appreciation to Dr. Walter J. Doty III and the nursing and patient care staff of 2-East at the Southeast Alabama Medical Center for the loving care and treatment provided to our Mother.

Claude Franklin Shores, 69, of Alford died Friday, August 4, 2017 at his home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward & Jessie Shores and two brothers, Eddie Shores and Thomas Shores.

Survivors include his wife, Laralie Shores of Alford; three brothers, Clyde Monroe Shores of Dallas, TX, Gordon Edward Shores, and James Richard Shores both of Alford, FL; two sisters, Pauline Harrington of Alford, FL and Geraldine Piercy of Dallas, TX; special children, Rose Butler, Belinda Jones, Cassey Jones, Collean Flores, Billy Bailey and Mary Struthers; special grandchildren, Jaun Hernandez, Jr Flores, Adrian Sandidge, Haley Flores, Caitlen Osorio, London Botzoc, Leah Marie Bailey, Ruby Lee Bailey, Jasmine Struthers, Jacob Carmody, and one baby on the way, Lee Lee Hernandez.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at James & Sikes Maddox Chapel with Rev. Bob Johnson officiating.  Interment will follow in Alford City Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.

Frances Elizabeth Pitts, 75, of Chattahoochee died August 17, 2017 at Jackson Hospital.

Mrs. Pitts was born in Alliance,  Jackson County, Florida  where she lived most of her life.

She retired from Florida State Hospital as a Unit Treatment Rehabilitation Specialist and was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley & Alice Hutchinson Pitts of Cypress. She leaves behind a host of special friends.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted Saturday, August 19, 2017 at  Sims Cemetery beginning at 9 a.m. Central time. James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel of Marianna will direct.

Donald (Don) Robert Myers

Donald (Don) Robert Myers, 65, of Marianna, Florida, passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2017. He was born to Clayton and Hilda Myers in Colchester, Vermont on November 20, 1951. Mr. Myers graduated from Rutherford High School in Panama City, attended Gulf Coast College and went on to graduate from the University of Vermont with his Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering.  He had been a resident of Jackson County for 28 years, was a manager at Florida Public Utilities for 21 years until his retirement in 2010, and was a faithful member of the Marianna Optimist Club for 20 years. Donald is survived by his wife of 29 years, Elaine Myers; two daughters, Jennifer Kramer of Lakeland, Florida, and Holly Ellis and husband Brandon of Crestview, Florida; four grandchildren Camren, David, Eleanor, and Clara; one sister Donna Constant and husband Leo of Duxbury, Vermont; two brothers, Dwayne Myers and wife Darlene of Belmont, North Carolina, and Doug Myers and wife Donna of Hinesburg, Vermont. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clayton and Hilda Myers and son, David Trent.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 A.M. Thursday, August 24, 2017 at Christian Center Church Fellowship Hall, with Pastor Tyler Ford and Pastor Mike Hawes officiating. James & Sikes Maddox Chapel in Charge of arrangements.

Melton “Junior” Ryals

Melton “Junior” Ryals, 77, of Marianna died Friday, September 1, 2017 at his residence.

Junior was born January 9, 1940 in Geneva, AL to the late Melton Sr. and Thelma Henderson Ryals.  He worked as a projectionist for over 35 years at Mac’s Drive in Theatre. Junior loved and ministered with music at several nursing homes in the surrounding area. He was loved and cared for by many.

Melton was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette Ryals; daughter, Barbara Jean Faulk; two brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by one brother, Paul Ryals; two sisters, Linda Sterett Conroy and Nora Ryals Dobbs; special neice, Jackie Smith; three grandchildren, five great grandchildren and a host of neices and nephews.

Graveside services will be 11 A.M. Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at Riverside Cemetery with Revs. Willis Hagan & John Kusnierz officiating, James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.

The Family will receive friends one hour prior to graveside services at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel. The funeral cortege will leave James & Sikes Funeral Home at 10:40 A.M.

Bonnie O. Lynch Blanton

Bonnie O. Lynch Blanton gained her angel wings on September 1,2017. Bonnie had been a resident of Marianna, Florida for the past 72 years. She grew up in Perry, Florida where she met and married the love of her life, Aubrey. They moved to Marianna and eventually purchased the Farmers Trading Post where they worked side by side for many years. After Aubrey passed away, Bonnie worked as a teachers aid at Golson Elementary and Marianna High School. She also worked as a hostess at Hardee’s and was the local area coordinator for the Salvation Army for many years where she helped hundreds of people with their utilities and medicine. She thrived on helping others and there was nothing she enjoyed more than coordinating the bell ringers for the Christmas season at the Salvation Army. 

Bonnie was a devoted wife and mother who loved to cook and spend time with her family. There are not many times anyone visited her where she didn’t have a pot of butter beans and a gallon of sweet tea out for you to enjoy. Bonnie was an avid supporter of the Marianna High School Bulldogs where each of her children attended and her son Travis coached basketball for many years. She loved spending time with her Canasta club friends every week and played cards with many of these women for over 50 years . These women were her rocks through many good and bad times. She loved their yearly beach trips and the infamous jokes they were always playing on each other .Bonnie’s major love was her 7 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She loved spoiling them rotten and being their Nana. When her family was all gathered, she enjoyed rocking in her chair on the front porch and watching everyone playing in the front yard. 

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents James and Sullie Lynch, her beloved husband Aubrey “Make-Em Happy” Blanton, brother Thomas and wife Eleanor, brother Jimmy and wife Billie and son in law Julian W. Williams, Jr. 

Bonnie is survived by her son Wayne (Sandy) Blanton, daughter Bonnie Alice Williams, daughter Fran Blanton, and son Travis (Susan) Blanton. She is also survived by her grandchildren Kim (Dan) Beaty, Michelle Blanton, Charity (Gordy) Pongratz, Kyle ( Jeff) Weldon, Katie (John) Holley, Chelsea Blanton, and Shayne Blanton. She also leaves behind great grandchildren Allison, Meredith, Robert, Reid, Alex, Landon, Lawson, Avery, Kayle, Logan, Nathan, Keaton, Mackenzie, and Charlotte. In addition she leaves behind nieces Gwen Rommer, Sonja Suber, Pam Terp, Lynn Shofner and nephew Randy Lynch. 

The family received friends at Trinity Baptist Church at 1:00pm on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 followed by the celebration of life at 2:00pm. Internment followed at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with James & Sikes Maddox Chapel directing. 

The family wishes to thank Marianna Health and Rehab for the excellent care they took of our mother and Nana , Dr. Gay and his staff for the excellent medical services they provided , and Emerald Coast Hospice for providing all the support and end of life care she received . In lieu of flowers , the family requests that donations be made in her honor to the Salvation Army 1824 West 15th Street Panama City , Florida  32446. Though she may be gone from our lives, she will never be far from our hearts.

Dorothy Ann Burke, 77, of Marianna died Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at her residence.

Dorothy was born Macon Hospital, Macon, Bibb Co. Georgia August 1, 1940 to the late Rufus and Beatrice Wiley Mead. Dorothy cherished her family and friends and was known by all as Grannie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rufus and Beatrice Wiley Mead; husband of 56 years, William E. Burke and her beloved son, Eddie Burke.

Survivors include two grandsons, Eli Burke, Jock Burke and wife, Erica; daughter-in-law, Donna Burke; three great grandchildren, Morgan Burke, Ethan Burke and Levi Burke all of Marianna; a host of sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday, September 8, 2017 at Cypress Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.

Carolyn D. Melnik, 58, of Dellwood died Thursday, September 3, 2017 at her residence.

Carolyn was born September 5, 1958 in Donalsonville, GA to the late L.C. and Hattie Hamilton Dykes. She worked for Florida State Hospital for many years.

She is survived by her sons, John Cloud of Sneads and James Melnik of St. Petersburg, FL; daughter, Carolyn Marie Barnes and husband, Richard of Chattahoochee, FL; brothers, J.D. Dykes and Carl Dykes both of Dellwood; sister, Thelma Marie Cook of Sneads; five grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Funeral services will be 10 A.M. (CST) Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Emmanuel Holiness Church with Rev. Mrs. Evs Howell officiating. Interment will follow in Cow Pen Pond Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.

Larry LaDon Broome

Reverend Larry LaDon Broome, 63, of Grand Ridge, Florida safely made the crossing from this life to enter eternal rest Saturday morning, September 16, 2017, at the Covenant Care Unit of Bay Medical Center in Panama City, Florida. Surrounded by his loving wife and family, he was gently received into the presence of our Heavenly Father after fighting a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Reverend Larry was born November 29, 1953 in Marianna, Florida to the late Daniel Hubert and Nora Mae Pettis Broome. He was a devoted husband and father who loved his family deeply and cherished every moment spent with them, especially those “little ones.” He had a heart and deep love for children. He was a called servant of God from an early age, devoting his life to the ministry of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and pastoring several churches in the Florida panhandle and southern Alabama. During his ministry, he held credentials with both the Assemblies of God and Pentecostal Holiness denominations. While pastoring in Gulf County, he also served as Executive Director of the Gulf County Senior Citizen’s Center, strongly advocating for the elderly.

Until his health began to decline, Larry loved riding his motorcycle, fishing with his brothers, and ministering and caring for his church members. He had a heart for the ministry of God and proved it in his dedication and loving outreach to community, friends, and family.

In addition to his parents, Larry is preceded in death by his first wife, Paula Smith Broome.

He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Marilyn Broome; three daughters, Michelle Neel of Grand Ridge, Brandy Davis and Kristen Gilley of Tallahassee; four grandkids, Kayla Neel and Tyler Neel of Grand Ridge, Zac Davis and Sarea Davis of Tallahassee; three great-grandkids, Dixie Davidson, Tucker Davidson, and Adalynn Neel, all of Grand Ridge; his caring and loving mother-in-law, Laverne Powell, a.k.a. “Granny,” of Grand Ridge; five brothers, Wayne Broome (Dianne) of Fountain, Rev. John Broome (Betty) of Marianna, Arnold Broome (Barbara) of Charleston, SC, Elwin Broome (Jean) of Marianna, and Rev. Terry Broome (Betty) of Marianna; 2 special sisters-in-law, Sandra Simmons of Crawfordville and Jean Johnson (Roland) of Ashford, AL.

The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 19, 2017, at Cypress Community Church with the Rev. Rolan Bamberg officiating. Interment will be at Welcome Assembly of God Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.  Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Covenant Care Hospice for the loving and compassionate care received during their loved one’s illness. Contributions to Covenant Care Hospice are greatly appreciated.

Nolan Ivey Daniels, 80, of Marianna died Sunday, September 17, 2017 in Sneads, FL.

Nolan was born October 4, 1936 in Marianna, FL. Before his retirement, he was employed as an Engineer with the Florida Department of Transportation for 37 years. He worked hard and enjoyed his job.  He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ivey & Lena Daniels; wife, Wandis Daniels; son, Eddie Daniels; step-son, Ricky Hagans; sister, Wandis Scott.

He is survived by his dearest friend, Lois Barrentine; son, Larry Daniels (Denise) of Marianna; one daughter, Rhonda Weeks (George Pate) of Molino, FL; three brothers, Norris Daniels of Port St. Joe, Virgil Daniels of Blountstown, and Terry Daniels of Marianna; four grandchildren, Tanya Clunan, Kyle Daniels, Sheena Turner, and Aaron Daniels; 6 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel with Rev. Ellis Vickery officiating. Interment will follow in Lipford Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.  

The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 19, 2017 from 5-7 p.m. at James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel.

Charles Gordon Brunson

Charles Gordon Brunson, 91, of Bowling Green, Kentucky, formerly from Marianna, entered into rest at his home on September 21, 2017.

He was born in Sneads, Florida, May 27,1926, to the late Elbert and Rossie Brunson. He was preceded in death by his only sibling, Elbert Brunson.  Charles lived most of his life in Marianna but in his later years moved to Kentucky to be near his daughters and grandchildren.  He is survived by his wife of more than 65 years, Aldis Waldorff Brunson, two daughters, Wanda Murrie (Joel), Linda Madison (Danny), five grandchildren, Jason Murrie (Katherine), Nathan Murrie (Amy), Jared Madison, Joseph Staynings (Laura), and Lindsey Madison, and six great grandchildren.

Charles retired from the US Postal Service and served his country with honor during WWII and the Korean War. He was a member of the Masonic Hall Harmony Lodge #3024 and a Shriner.  He was also a lifetime member of Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks.

Funeral Services will be 1:00PM, Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at Saint Luke’s Episcopal Church with visitation at 12 noon, in MacKinnon Hall at the church just prior to the service.  Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. Sneads American Legion Post 241 will present the US flag to his family in recognition of his military service. Vernon Atmar Cook, 77, of Marianna died Tueday, September 26, 2017 at his residence. 

He was born in Charleston, S.C. on September 21, 1940 to the late Carlton H and Linnie Holloway Cook.

Vernon served in the U S Marine Corps for 23 years, and retired as a Master Sargent. He then worked and retired from the State of Florida as a Geodetic Hydrographic Surveyor for 20 years.  Vernon was a member of the Ascension Lutheran Church of Marianna.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy Ivey Cook of Marianna; one son, Vernon A. Cook and wife Vickie; two grandsons, Aaron Michael of Alaska,  Christopher Jordan of Biloxi; sisters, Shirley Benson and Margie Livergood and a host  of loving family members and friends.

Military graveside services will be 11:30 A.M., Friday, September 29, 2017 at Pinecrest Memorials Gardens with Rev. Steven Mazzaferro officiating. James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing. Family will receive friends from 10 A.M.- 11A.M. at the Ascension Lutheran Church. Honors will be provided by the U.S. Marine Corp.

Martha L. Daffin

Martha L. Daffin, 87, of Marianna died Thursday, September 7, 2017 at her residence.

Martha was born February 25, 1930 in Lakeland, Fl. She was employed with the State of Florida for 33 and a half years as an Accountant. Martha sang live Gospel Music on WTOT Radio from 1947 to 1948. She enjoyed her family more than anything, including her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Martha will always be well known for her sweet potato and pecan pies.

She was preceded in death by her father, Henry Buran; mother, Alice “Madonna” Welch; daughter, Charlotte Anne Daffin Harris; two brothers, John Eugene Welch and Jerry Buran; sister, Helen Claire Buran O’doniel.

She is survived by her husband, James B. Daffin, Jr.; son, Robert Edward Daffin and wife, Royce of Marianna; brother, Ron Buran and wife, Mary Ann; three sisters, Eula Prine and husband, Bob, Mary Wilson ( Kelly Sloan), Norma Bell and husband, Michael; granddaughter, Lory-Anne Cheesborough and husband, Jonathan of Havana, FL; grandson, Casey Edward Daffin and lady friend, Denise Hall whom was Martha’s caretaker, both being from Fort Braden, FL; great grandson, Blaine Edward Daffin of Marianna; great granddaughter, Emme Lourdes Cheesborough of Havana, FL; multiple nieces, nephews and cousins; and special friend, Becky Wester, whom was like a daughter to Martha.
