Robert Rex “Rusty” Kent, 77, of Marianna died November 18, 2017 at his home.
Born in San Antonia, TX on September 5, 1940 to Rex and Thelma Levins Kent, Mr. Kent had resided in Jackson County for the past 45 years. He was employed with Southern Farm Bureau Insurance until his retirement. Rusty was a US Army veteran serving from 1963 to 1966 and was a member of Eastside Baptist Church and a member of the Fishermen’s Sunday School Class. He graduated from Chipola Jr. College and the University of West Florida with a degree in Marketing.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, building and flying remote control model airplanes and spending time with his four grandsons.
Mr. Kent was preceded in death by his parents, Rex and Thelma Levings Kent.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Ruth; two sons, Jason Kent and wife, Laura; Cory Kent and wife Danielle; four grandsons, Cameron, Jackson, Christian and Aiden.
One brother, Howard; three step granddaughters, Jessica, Taylor and Hannah and six step great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 pm Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Eastside Baptist Church in Marianna with Rev. John Rollyson officiating. Interment will follow in New Orange Hill Baptist Church in Chipley with Military Honors, James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Monday, November 20, 2017 at Eastside Baptist Church in Marianna.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Eastside Baptist Church building fund.
